For 2017, the top New Year’s resolution is to “save more, spend less,” according to GOBankingRate’s 2017 New Year resolution survey. That’s where we come in.

We’ve got that “save money” help for you.

Most advice about saving money is about spending less on other things, cutting out takeout or cable or etc. While that is good advice, sometimes spending less AND trying to save the money can be a lot to take on at once. So, our advice? Just focus on the saving money and start small.

You can simultaneously try to limit your diet, limit your spending and limit your insanity in doing both. Or you can spend about 5 minutes doing something that will last you your entire year.

So, if New Year’s resolutions still going in March seems like a punchline to you, we have your solution. No, it won’t cost you two payments of $19.99. No, it doesn’t even require Excel sheets. To be honest, our solution to not failing at your New Year’s resolution takes about 5 minutes.

So here is your 5 minute No-Fail New Year’s Resolution Plan:

  1. Sign up for BoostUp (Time to complete: 1.5 minutes, unless you type like my Grandpa)
  2. Create your savings plan. We recommend $3/day. Because with $3/day, by the end of the year you will have saved over $1,000. (Time to complete: 30 seconds)
  3. Link your bank account for your savings deposits to be pulled from. We’ll store your savings for you. (Time to complete: 1.5 minutes)
  4. Admire your completion with time to spare.

If you leave your savings plan running throughout the entire year, by Dec 31, you can have at least $1,000 saved for you. If at any time you feel like $3/day is too much for you, adjust your savings plan to less. If after a month or so you feel like you are killing the $3/day plan, up your savings to even more.

The reason this is your best New Year’s resolution is because you don’t do any work after the sign up. And we bet you won’t even notice the little deposits of $3/day being transported to your BoostUp account.

Bonus tip: Connect a RoundUp account for even more savings throughout the year. We see our users with RoundUps connect save their spare change to an extra $300-$600 per year without even noticing! Extra bonus: download our app from the App Store or Google Play Store so you can very easily see how your savings is adding up.
